If you’re in a business where you seek repeat, responsive business, then you must find a way to help your clients bring their gifts of connection, expression, and purpose to your small business. Done properly, the process of conversation provides a unique dialogue between you and each individual customer. When you have conversations with your clients, you allow them to open up and describe who they truly are and where the lake is, the only way they’ll ever find it.

Looking for a perfect way to help your clients engage in authentic conversation? Next to investing in professional development, investing in coaching is one of the best investments you can make into custom coaching. Coaches are trained in connection, expression, and purpose.

It is becoming a favourite activity of mine to be with my clients when they are doing some work they want to talk about. It is a great way for them to get clear on their own expression and purpose. I also like this approach to being with my clients because it acts as an early warning system. There are areas where they could be feeling frustrated or anxious, and we can share strategies for how to best support them in this process.

The conversation you want to have with each of your clients is one that is an authentic expression of your own conversation. How you express yourself is your own. The thing is, you want to make sure your expressions are in balance and that your conversation is in keeping with your integrity. When you follow your usual pattern or “habit,” you will not be as authentic as you could be. That can be detrimental to your business because people relate to authenticity.

Your job as a business is to speak your truth and speak it with respect. Being able to speak your truth to get things done in a way that’s a great aligned to your business grows your business and makes you stronger as a leader and leader in your life. If you are not able to do this, then it could be safe to say that you could not be getting the results or the attention you want in your business.

So find a means to engage in authentic conversation with your clients. It should be short, so you can feel that space, and it should be natural, not forced or scripted. Find an appreciable length of time or space to start this process with each person. You can also share a quote or a turned-on quote before you begin.

Depending upon what you are talking about you can expand this conversation to a mini- overheard discourse for a little longer time. Allow each of your customers to share their truth or concern with you. Where appropriate share what you are learning. You are learning to listen better and be genuine in your relationships.

People can’t hang on to what you tell them. In fact everyone they talk to will see their reality as a part of the communication. You can use this as an opportunity to share how you are learning or you can get a quick refresher so your mind is fresh after a past experience. The true gift is to see them grow as people, learn more about who they are, how they express themselves and learn how to slow down and accept that which they do not have and what is not working in our best interest.

By engaging in conversation with your clients, you are not only teaching them, you are learning more about yourself. You are learning the gift of your good intention towards making the life you want.

In this conversation you might be able to find a spark or connection that leads to something that is new and is positive as the conversation unfolds.
